Tab Cooney, MD, MS is an associate professor at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland. She received her BS in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University, her MD from the University of South Florida and an MS in Epidemiology and Clinical Research from Stanford University. Dr. Cooney completed a pediatric residency at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, a fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology/stem cell transplantation from Stanford University and a pediatric neuro-oncology fellowship at Stanford University. Dr. Cooney also completed a Fellowship in pediatric neuro-oncology/experimental therapeutics at the National Cancer Institute. Through her work in pediatric oncology, Dr. Cooney has had the privilege to work with many dying children and their families; her specialty is children with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, a non-curable brainstem glioma tumor.
