Kimberley A. Bower, MD

Dr. Bower has been the chief of palliative medicine at Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego since February 2014, and the medical director of the Pediatric Program at Scripps Hospice since March 2013.

After earning her medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City, she completed her family medicine residency training at Brown University / Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island in 2003. In 2004, she began a fellowship in Hospice & Palliative Medicine at San Diego Hospice & the Institute for Palliative Medicine (SDHIPM). She stayed on for a second year, serving as chief fellow, with a focus on building skills in pediatric palliative medicine and working on international initiatives. In 2006, she became the medical director for the pediatric programs at SDHIPM and also served as core faculty within the palliative medicine fellowship program, designing the pediatric track within the fellowship and the pediatric curriculum for the adult palliative medicine fellows.
