Kathleen Kerr is a health care consultant in private practice in Mill Valley, California. She has expertise in palliative care, quality improvement and program evaluation, with particular interest in assessing fiscal outcomes. Prior to launching her own practice, Ms. Kerr worked for more than fifteen years at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where she participated in educational, technical assistance and research efforts focused on quality, safety, medical education and palliative care.
From 2004-2012, she served as faculty for UCSF’s Palliative Care Leadership Center, and in this role worked with more than 180 hospital-based teams to develop, sustain or enhance inpatient palliative care programs. Ms. Kerr frequently speaks to national and regional audiences on the business case for palliative care and the broader issue of measuring the value of community-based palliative care services.
She is a longtime member of the Award Committee for the American Hospital Association’s Circle of Life Award, which recognizes excellence and innovation in the delivery of hospice and palliative care across the care continuum.
