Judith Redwing Keyssar has traversed an amazing 28+ year journey during the infancy and evolution of palliative care. As an RN with experience in Oncology, Critical Care, Hospice, Palliative Care, she is an author, poet, teacher, national presenter and frequent contributor to the public debate about palliative care. Redwing is currently the Director of Patient and Caregiver Education at the UCSF Center for Education IN Palliative Care (CEPC). She served as Director of the unique community-based palliative care program at Jewish Family and Children’s Services from 2007-2018 and continues as an adjunct faculty member of the California State University Institute of Palliative Care. Her book Last Acts of Kindness; Lessons for the Living from the Bedsides of the Dying won a 2011 AJN Book of the Year award. In 2015 she was the recipient of the Individual Leadership in Palliative Care award from the Coalition for Compassionate Care of California, and she will be receiving the 2019 AAHPM Humanities Award in March 2019.
