Coalition for Compassionate Care of California is honored to announce Betty Ferrell, RN, PhD, MA, FAAN, FPCN, CHPN, will be the closing speaker at our 9th annual palliative care summit in Sacramento, CA, on March 13-14, 2017.
Dr. Ferrell will deliver a vision for how a “community of caring” transcends the needs of all patients and families, and how palliative care team members weave together the person-centered response needed to provide the best care.
Dr. Ferrell is Director of Nursing Research and Education and a Professor at City of Hope Medical Center. She has been working in the field of nursing for 39 years and has focused her clinical expertise and research in pain management, quality of life and palliative care.
Dr. Ferrell has authored over 400 publications in peer-reviewed journals and texts, and is well known for co-authoring The Nature of Suffering and the Goals of Nursing, a text that considers the effect of suffering on the frontline providers of palliative care nurses. In 2013, Dr. Ferrell was named one of the 30 Visionaries by the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
